Disfellowshipped for being complicit in someone else's sin - really?!
by Isambard Crater ina close friend of mine who is pimo (only staying in for family reasons) in a neighboring congregation called me in tears tonight saying her dad (elder) is telling her he is seriously considering reporting her to her local elders and she could get disfellowshipped.. the reason?
because she is complicit in a gross sin, according to him, by going with her best friend (not a j.w.
) when the friend had an abortion.

Mmmm. . . Yeah the sharing in the sins of others really doesn't apply to non JWs. . . .
Then again, you can can be thrown into a judicial committee/disfellowshipped for whatever anyway -- so there's no saying what could really happen.
Sound like it's time for your friend to become POMO.

FADINGTRUTH - Great quotes! However, the society could still say that they have never had a policy of targeting the bereaved. . .. it was individuals who chose to do so. They merely reported such activity in the pages of their publications.
Not unlike when people sold their homes to pioneer before 1975: at the time, the experiences of such ones were published to encourage others to do so.
After the failed prophecy, the society says it never said to do such a thing; individuals foolishly did that on their own.

How can angels be sexually attracted to women?
by Island Man inthe nephilim account in genesis is utterly ridiculous when you consider that angels are sex-less beings and would therefore lack sex-drive and romantic attraction.
think of how difficult it is for humans with a sex drive to be sexually attracted to animals.
now take away that sex drive and it becomes literally impossible.

Here's how angels can be sexually attracted to women:
The story was written by some horny dude in the middle east about 2000 years ago.

Talk to my Dad about beards.
by LovingLifeNow inso i spoke to my elder dad the other day, and he asked if i still am sporting a beard.
i said yes, then i said, "i thought the society said its ok to have a neat trimmed beard now?
" he said "no, no, no..if you read the article , it says in countries where it is accepted" so my response was "ummm, its pretty accepted here in america"..which he says "it reflects your spirituality" "if another wittness saw you, they would know you are weak"...i was like, "ok, i don't get it, and i follow christ/god, not men..." then he said in his hall" if a brother came in with a beard , he would not have privelages" then i just gave up, and tried to change the subject..ugggggggggg if these people would just listen to themselves , they would see the sillyness of there teachings...

For the borg, shaving is a great control mechanism (at least for men in the cong).
You can even tell how long it's been since someone's gone to a meeting/in service just by their stubble!

“Winning the Battle for Your Mind”
by SAHS in“winning the battle for your mind.” that is the title of an article in the latest watchtower magazine, of july 2017, pages 27-30. wow, how ironic!
here is the direct link:.

I find it rather odd that the Governing Body (tm) would allow the writing department to quote Noam Chomsky. Noam Chomsky is a very intelligent man, a believer in freedom of thought and a highly rational humanist.
Brought to you by the people who cite Richard Dawkins in order to "debunk" evolution.

A JW explains Blood Fractions
by OrphanCrow ini was looking around from some information on the wt's stance concerning the use of stem cells, and i came across this article on a defending jehovah's witnesses blog.. rather than informing the reader all that much about stem cells, the author diverts the conversation into a discussion of "blood fractions" (*note: the term "blood fractions" appears to be another one of those wt bloodspeak terms coined by the wt.
"blood components" or "blood products" are the terms used more frequently by the medical world.
"fractions" implies tiny amounts).

Logically, as blood is broken down, at some point the components logically cease to be blood. If this logic was not correct then EVERY molecule which had ever been part of blood would still be considered blood and could not be ingested to eternity. . . .One reason most Witnesses accept blood fractions is because most of them are the product of destroying blood. . . . Fractions are not blood when they are a product of destroying blood.
And following this "logic," if one were to break down blood mechanically or by cooking for, say, a boudin noir recipe, then such a sausage would also be perfectly acceptable as it contained only 'destroyed blood.'

2017 Convention Video To Be Shown Regarding The 1975 Failure
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3arnnsfkk&feature=youtu.be.
no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .

I found it odd that this video was set in 1997 and the video right before it in 1993. Why would these videos be set 20 years in the past, and not in present day?
I think this might be why: the two videos were set right around 1995, the year the society changed its generation teaching, causing quite a few folks to wake up and bail.
And as in 1975, it was the publishers’ fault for being too eager to see the generation end.
I think using the mid-90s setting was another more subtle way of addressing the current “overlapping” generation misfire, as well as people’s increasing discomfort as “this system” continues on.

Great to hear from you STUMPY.
I'll never forget the picture you posted of your multi-colored "research library."
We are the same, yet very different people now. . . . We don't consider ourselves ex-jws anymore. Just 2 people that happened to grow up in a cult, woke up and left. We very rarely talk about it anymore. Just passing comments from time to time.
It doesn't get any better than that!

Huffington Post: When Is A Religion 'Extremist'? [Food for thought!]

tim rymel, m.ed.. governments who support “religious freedom” over the equal human rights and dignity of others condone, and even endorse discrimination.. 05/06/2017 11:27 am et | photo – flickr/ justin kern .
government endorsement of any religious ideology creates religious extremism.

But even Christianity, in it’s many definitions, has a sorted history, which is seldom talked about and often dismissed.
Being picky here, but this guy supposedly has a masters in education and I expect better: Christianity could have a sordid history; I'm not sure what it means to have a sorted one.
